Clouded Leopard as Emblematic animal of Madi Rural Municipality and Clouded Leopard Protected Area
Madi Rural Municipality, Kaski has officially declared the Clouded Leopard as its emblematic animal, thanks to our ongoing research and conservation efforts. Since 2012, we’ve been actively working in the area to reduce forest dependency by implementing various livelihood improvement activities and insurance schemes. Furthermore, two forest areas namely Labi in Tangting and Pyaundanda in Sikles, is declared as Clouded Leopard Protect Area by local government.
Declaration of Owl as ‘Bird of the Ward’ by Jalapa, Khotang
After the successful completion of 8th Nepal Owl Festival in 2019, Diktel Rupakot Majhuwagadhi Municipality-12, Jalapa, Khotang has declared Rock Eagle-owl (Bubo bengalensis) as the bird of the ward. We can proudly say that our efforts in owl conservation have appreciated by policy makers and political leaders.
Declaration of Owl Conservation Area in Dhading
Syaulibazaar, a village in Dhading district has declared the area of village and adjoining forest as Owl Conservation Area in 2012 on the occasion of First Nepal Owl Festival. This step was a remarkable breakthrough in initiation of owl conservation initiative in the country.

FON is mentioned in the book ‘Birds of Nepal’ as an organization working in the field of bird conservation which is one of the best bird guidebook of Nepal.
